Mrs. McCrimmon's Math Class

I have set up a class webpage. You can now securely view your grades online! You should have received an email with your login information. I will also post any class announcements, calendar, homework, and resources for help and practice. Look for online quizzes shortly. :-)

North Rowan Middle School Notes Webpage - Mrs. McCrimmon

Update: January 10, 2010

Back from the Holiday Break are being Introduced into the World of Fractions, Decimals, and Percents. The beginning of our unit will be review and mastery of skills learning in prior academic years. This unit will focus on Percent of change and hhelp bridge us in the rates and ratios. It is important that students complete all assignments as we will be reviewing prior 7th grade concepts while using rational numbers. For examples, students have learned how to analyze data (finding mean, median, mode and range), and solve algebraic equations. We will continue to practice using rational numbers as well.

Our first skill to master and maintain will be to convert between fractions, decimals and percents.

Ex: 1/2 .50 50%

Special Announcements      posted 11-15-2009

Students and Parents:

As you review student grades please make note of the following:
Any grade of 0 is an assignment that was not turned in.

Please review the "returned work section" of you child's binder to review graded assignments.

Students should turn in any work missed due to absence the day after returning to school. Late work received otherwise will have a reduced grade as per my grading policy in the 7th grade Math Information distributed at the beginning of the year.

34. Translate the underlined math language in the story:

Today – 5 months the funniest thing happened to me. I was walking down the street and WHAM! A giant ladybug was sitting on bench. The ladybug was > a car. In fact she was > than an SUV. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I blinked one more than one or one less than four times, and even shook my head but still, there she sat.

As I got closer, I noticed she was eating popcorn. There was about ¼ less than a whole bag left. I guess the peculiar look on my face tipped her off that I thought the whole situation was strange.

“Why do you looking at me with those one more than one eyes,” she said. I couldn’t believe that she could talk. I explained that I never saw such a big ladybug who could talk. All she replied was “You ain’t seen nothing yet!”

35. List three ways you can write 27 times a number k.

Class of 2015 - Aristocrats      posted 11-07-2009

Although still in the 7th grade, students are at a stepping stone in fulfilling their plan for June 2015... High School Graduation and beyond. I am so proud of all the students who are working hard a achieving this goal.

Their are many requirements students will have to achieve in order to walk across that stage in June 2015, wearing a cap and gown. One of which is the mathematics requirement. Seventh grade mathematics prepares students to be successful in achieving the mathematics graduation requirement.

"Math truly is a foreign language for students: It is learned almost entirely at school and not spoken at home." - Joan Kenney
